Deadline Approaching to Oppose HUD’s Rule Change Weakening Housing Protections for Transgender Individuals
The deadline to submit comments opposing the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) proposed changes to the current Equal Access Rule is September 22, 2020 at 8:59 p.m. PST. The proposed rule change, which has the potential to put thousands of transgender, gender non-conforming, and gender non-binary individuals experiencing homelessness at greater risk of trauma and violence, opened for public comment on July 24, 2020.
LAHSA strongly urges providers and advocates to submit public comments by September 22, 2020 at 8:59 p.m. PST through this portal. Submitting a large volume of comments is critical in both slowing down potential implementation of this rule and also building a potential basis for legal action to block implementation.
